Growing the sport of disc golf on BC's Sunshine Coast

Disc golf at Pender Harbor Golf Club

Exciting news:

We’re proud to announce a new partnership with the Pender Harbour Golf Club in Garden Bay that features a brand new 18 hole disc golf course that plays alongside the traditional 9 hole golf course!

The course is open for disc golfers Tuesday to Sunday past 2pm (Closed Mondays). All you need to do is call the pro shop at 604-883-9541 to book a tee time. You can also do so online at pendergolf.ca.

Greens fees and cart rentals

The cost for 18 holes is $15, while 1/2 cart rentals are $13. Please check in and make payment in the pro shop ahead of your tee-time.

Bring a friend or 3 so that you can share the cost of a cart rental.

No outside alcohol permitted on the course. Please purchase alcohol inside the clubhouse restaurant to be taken out on the course.

Caddy Card and hole notes

The course features a Red tee layout that is better suited to Recreational and Intermediate players and a Blue tee layout for the big dogs. Printed caddy cards and score cards are available in the Pro Shop. The course will be added to UDisc in the coming weeks.

Further specific hole notes:

Holes 1 & 2 Blues: It’s possible that groundskeepers will move red/blue markers for landscaping purposes. You may always tee from the front of the pad, no matter where the markers are.

Hole 5: After putting out, please ring bell to alert approaching golfers that fairway is clear before driving to hole 6 red pads.
OR
After putting out, leave cart at path, walk to blue tee pads for 6, drive, then ring bell before driving cart to green.

Hole 8: Do not putt, talk, or move when traditional golfers are putting on adjacent green.

Hole 14: After drive, leave cart at bridge, putt out, then walk to hole 15 tee pad, drive, then walk back to cart (no driving cart to hole 15 tee pad).

Hole 18: Basket can be used as warm up/practice putting basket when disc golfers are not approaching (this basket is not on any traditional golf fairways).

Expectations and etiquette

The standard rules and etiquette of traditional golf apply to disc golf, as well.

This means:

  • Please dress respectably – No tank tops, cut off shorts, sandals, etc.
  • Please allow faster players to play through (golfers and disc golfers)
  • No putting, talking or moving when traditional golfers are putting on nearby greens (notably on hole 8)
  • Please rake up (when possible) if you have to enter a sand trap

A few notes on carts:

  • Stay on cart path whenever possible (90 degree rule)
  • No driving carts on golf greens ever
  • Reckless drivers risk permanent ban

Any questions, just ask.

Thanks & shoutouts

Big, huge, massive ‘thank you’ to club member and Sunshine Coast disc golf Godfather Matthew Kliewer for working overtime to facilitate this partnership. This isn’t something that happened over night…

Thanks also to Matthew and to club member Denny Nordli for designing this course and spending hours tweaking the layout. Both gentlemen should be very proud of the course they’ve created for us all. Nicely done, boys.

Finally, another huge, massive ‘thank you’ to the folks at Pender Harbour Golf Club for seeing the value in our sport and partnering with us to help grow the sport of disc golf on the Sunshine Coast. They’ve been incredibly welcoming of our community and we truly believe that this is a partnership that can last for years to come!
