The Spring/Summer disc golf tournament season officially tees off for us here on the Sunshine Coast with the 2023 Tour Tee-Off at 12pm on Sunday, March 19th at Shirley Macey Park in Gibsons.
Format and Layout
The tournament will be played at Shirley Macey Park in 18 hole stroke play format with scores submitted via the UDisc app.
The unique tournament layout features a mix of woods and the field adjacent to Eric Cardinal Hall. A course map will be provided to each competitor at the event.
Competitors are allowed to choose their own cardmates, so long as the entire card is competing in the same division. Please specify your cardmates when registering.
Divisons
SC/DC follows the PDGA’s guidelines for assigning players to divisions, albeit adapted slightly for our home course at Shirley Macey Park.
As a general rule of thumb, use the guideline below assuming you are playing Shirley Macey’s Red Tees layout.
Open
Tournament experienced players who have played disc golf for several years, and have developed both accuracy and consistency. Have several different shots in their arsenal. The best of the best.
At Shirley Macey Reds: Has the ability to birdie nearly every hole and expects to shoot well under par. Has the ability to go bogey-free in a round.
Advanced
Fairly skilled players with a well rounded game, but lacking the accuracy, consistency and tournament experience needed to compete in Open division.
At Shirley Macey Reds: Has the ability to birdie most holes and expects to shoot under par. Has the ability to minimize bogeys in a round.
Intermediate
Developing players who are working on improving consistency and accuracy.
At Shirley Macey Reds: Has the ability to make some birdies, but mostly plays for par with some bogeys sprinkled in. Sometimes shoots par or under, but more often than not shoots over par in a round.
Recreational
For beginning and casual players who are learning basic disc golf skills.
At Shirley Macey Reds: Just out there for fun. Never shoots under par, rarely has a birdie opportunity in a round.
