Divisions
The SCDGA follows the PDGA’s guidelines for assigning players to divisions, albeit adapted slightly for our home course at Camp Byng.
As a general rule of thumb, use the guideline below assuming you are playing Camp Byng’s Red Tees layout.
Open
Tournament experienced players who have played disc golf for several years, and have developed both accuracy and consistency. Have several different shots in their arsenal.
At Camp Byng Reds: Has the ability to birdie every hole and expects to shoot well under par. Expects to go bogey-free in a round.
Advanced
Skilled players with a well rounded game, but lacking the accuracy, consistency and tournament experience needed to compete in Open division.
At Camp Byng Reds: Has the ability to birdie most holes and expects to shoot under par. Has the ability to minimize bogeys or even go bogey-free in a round.
Intermediate
Developing players who are working on improving consistency and accuracy.
At Camp Byng Reds: Has the ability to make some birdies, but mostly plays for par with some bogeys sprinkled in. Sometimes shoots par or under, but more often than not shoots over par in a round.
Recreational
For beginning and casual players who are learning basic disc golf skills.
At Camp Byng Reds: Just out there for fun. Never shoots under par, rarely has a birdie opportunity in a round.
Junior (12 and under)
For kids! Ages 12 and under. Emphasis on fun and sportsmanship with a mild competitive spirit. Teens age 13 and up are encouraged to give our Recreational Division a shot. They’ll fit in perfectly!
Season Rankings and Champions
Rankings for the season-long series will be determined by the points awarded in each tournament. Again, each participant will have points from their best four (4) of six (6) events count toward their final season standings.
